Series I: Personal view on a successful venture capitalist in China

Chinese venture capital industry has enjoyed significant growth in the last few years, many Chinese enterprises become very successful because of the help from venture capital and many talented people are attracted to this industry with rich investment and management experiences. For the past few years, CVCA has organized various activities for the benefit of our member firms. CVCA has 10 governors who all are the leaders in this industry and committed to share their experiences on investment and management to CVCA and YVCC members in each month. The first one will be conducted by Mr. Hugo Shong in March.

Hugo Shong: Founding General Partner of IDGVC and Founding General Partner of IDG China Media Fund. In 1993, Mr. Shong helped IDG set up the first technology venture fund in China, which now has U$1.5 billion under management. IDGVC has invested in 200 enterprises/projects and in which more than 60 has exited, with average return rate of 42%, it has become a very successful venture capital investor in China among foreign operations and Mr. Shong is regarded as one of the successful venture capital entrepreneurs who first brought western technology and venture capital experience to China.
